Pre-War Profession: Lawyer, planter.

War Service: 1861 organized an infantry battalion - Maj., May 1862 9th Louisiana, Chickasaw Bluffs, Vicksburg (s), paroled quickly, reported to President Davis on the surrender, assigned to Trans Mississippi to collect parolees, February 1864 Brig. Gen., assigned to command a brigade in Taylor's Dept., commanded Polignac's division when he left for Europe.

Post War: Planter, professor, US consul in Venezuela.
