War Service: 1861 Capt. in 14th South Carolina, Seven Days, Cedar Mountain, Second Manassas, Harper's Ferry, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, February 1863 Col., Chancellorsville, commanded 1st Bde/Pender's Divn at Gettysburg, Falling Waters, September 1863 Brig. Gen., commanded Perrin's Bde/Anderson's Divn at the Wilderness, Spotsylvania (k).

Post War: Leading his troops in a spirited counterattack through a very heavy fire, with his sword in hand, Perrin was riddled with bullets and died instantly, shot seven times.
