War Service: 1861 Camp Jackson (c), June 1861 Col. of 1st Missouri, March 1862 Brig. Gen., commanded 2nd Bde/Breckenridge's (Reserve) Corps at Shiloh (w), Vicksburg campaign, May 1863 Maj. Gen., Vicksburg.

Post War:  Died as a result of illness contracted during the siege of Vicksburg in 1863.
