ROANE, John Selden

Born: January 8 1817, Wilson Cty TN

Died: April 8 1867, Pine Bluff AR

Pre-War Profession: Politician, Mexican War, governor of Arkansas.

War Service: March 1862 Brig. Gen., commanded Confederate forces in Arkansas, served under Hindman at Prairie Grove, garrison and detached duty in Trans Mississippi. Roane took part in numerous battles, including the battles of Whitney's Lane and Prairie Grove.

Post War: After the war, Roane returned to Pine Bluff, where he died on April 8, 1867.
