War Service: 1861 Lt. Col. in 154th Senior Tennessee, military governor of Columbus KY, Belmont, Shiloh (w), served on Cheatham's staff in Kentucky campaign, December 1862 Brig. Gen., commanded Wright's Bde/Cheatham's Divn at Chickamauga, Chattanooga, commanded Dist. of Atlanta, garrison at Macon, commanded Dist. of North Mississippi and West Tennessee.

Post War: Lawyer, asst purser of US Navy Yard, agent for the collection of archives, a compiler of the Official Records
