War Service: 1861 Captain of the 19th Mississippi Regiment
commanded a regiment at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, as a result of
was promoted to brigadier general on January 20, 1864. Other battles were Wilderness
campaign of 1864, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Richmond, Virginia
battles of Williamsburg and Seven Pines.
Post War: President of the Mississippi Valley and Ship Island Railroad.
In 1885 appointed registrar of the U.S. Land Office at Aberdeen, South Dakota.
