War Service:  1861 volunteer adc to Gen. Hardee with rank of Col., courier for A S Johnston, commanded a brigade at Corinth under Cleburne, July 1862 Brig. Gen., commanded 1st Bde at Perryville, commanded 2nd Bde/Cleburne's Divn at Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, District commands in Trans Mississippi, Red River campaign, defense of Mobile, Fort Blakely (c).
