War Service: 1861 Capt. in Columbus Riflemen, Col. of 14th Mississippi, Fort Donelson (s), exchanged August 1862, September 1862 Brig. Gen., Coffeeville, commanded 1st Bde under M L Smith in Vicksburg campaign (c), served in the Dist. of Mobile.

Post War: He was killed in an accident in 1864 when a broken stirrup caused him to fall off his horse, near the Dog River in Alabama.
