frontier duty.
War Service: May 1861 Col. of 16th US Infantry, May 1861 appointed
Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 1st Bde/1st Divn at First Bull Run, Provost
Marshal General of the Army of the Potomac in Peninsula campaign, relieved of duty,
commanded a draft depot in Pennsylvania, Provost Marshal General in Washington,
April 1864 mustered out for health reasons.
