Corps in Peninsula campaign, Yorktown, relieved by McClellan, commanded
a 3rd Divn/Army of the Mississippi at Iuka, Corinth, September 1862 promoted
Maj. Gen. of Volunteers, April 1863 resigned.
Post War: Manufacturer, US marshal.
