War Service: August 1861 Major in Quartermasters Department, retained in a staff duties in Quartermaster's Department throughout the war, May 1863 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers.

Post War: Army service in the Quartermaster's Dept., retired 1882 after forty-five years of duty.
