Died: September 1 1862, Alexandria VA

Pre-War Profession: Midshipman in US Navy, resigned 1831, farmer, Mexican war, engaged in mining and manufacture of iron.

War Service: June 1861 Col. of 3rd New Jersey, May 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 1st Bde/1st Divn/VI Corps in Seven Days, Second Bull Run (mw).

Post War: On August 27, 1862, the brigade stumbled into Stonewall Jackson's entire corps and was quickly routed. Taylor suffered a severe leg wound from an artillery shell and died in a Washington hospital four days later.
