War Service: September 1861 helped recruit 75th Pennsylvania, Col., served in Blenker's division, April 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 3rd Bde/Blenker's Divn at Cross Keys.

Post War: Bohlen was shot through the heart as he tried to rally his troops in 1862
