Pre-War Profession: Lawyer, served in Michigan state militia.

War Service: June 1861 Col. of 5th Michigan, Peninsula campaign, Seven Pines, July 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded Terry's Bde at Suffolk, commanded 3rd Divn/VI Corps on the line of the Rappahannock, in charge of the prison at Johnson's Is., resigned February 1865.

Post War: Lawyer
