War Service:  February 1861 Col. of 7th US Infantry, Falling Waters, August 1861 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Bde/1st Divn/IV Corps at Seven Pines (w), Malvern Hill, defences of Washington, administrative duties, commanded depots in Grant's Overland campaign.

Post War:  Court martial duty but not on active service.
