War Service: November 1861 recruited a company which joined the 2nd US Sharpshooters, served on Gen. Hunter's staff, Charleston, served on Gen. Hooker's staff, Chattanooga, Atlanta campaign, August 1864 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Bde/1st Divn/XIX Corps at Cedar Creek, garrison duty.
