War Service: April 1861 Lt. Col. of 10th Illinois, July 1861 Col., Island
No 10, Corinth, July 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, served in Alabama,
commanded 1st Bde/2nd Divn/XIV Corps in Atlanta campaign, commanded
2nd Divn/XIV Corps in March to the Sea, Carolinas campaign.
Post War: Banker, businessman, active in the Society
of the Army of the Cumberland.
