War Service: June 1861 Col. of 7th Missouri, commanded at Jackson TN, Corinth, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 3rd Bde/3rd Divn/XVII Corps in Vicksburg campaign, served in northern Louisiana, commanded at Corinth, guarded railroads before the Atlanta campaign, resigned April 1864, reappointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers August 1864, commanded at Harper's Ferry.

Post War: Army service in the infantry, honorably discharged in 1870, lawyer
