1st Bde/3rd Divn/IX Corps at Wilderness, Spotsylvania, May 1864 appointed
Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 3rd Divn/IX Corps at Petersburg, Ft Stedman,
provost marshal at the trial of Lincoln's assassins
Post War: Army service, auditor general, governor,
postmaster, port collector.
