frontier duty, garrison duty, Mexican war.
War Service: 1861 Maj. in 1st US Artillery, Fort Pickens, January
1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded Dept. of Florida,
commanded in New Orleans, suffered a stroke, on sick leave, retired February 1864.
Post War: Was permanently disabled by a stroke, and was retired from the Army in February 1864.
