Washington during Early's raid, commanded 2nd Bde/1st Divn/VI Corps in Shenandoah
Valley campaign, Cedar Creek (w), October 1864 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers,
commanded a division of cavalry at Petersburg, Five Forks, Appomattox.
Post War: Army service in infantry and cavalry, fought
Indians and bandits, retired through disability 1885
