Pre-War Profession: Attended Kentucky Military Institute, lawyer, farmer.

War Service: August 1861 raised 26th Kentucky - Col., Shiloh, Arkansas Post, Vicksburg campaign, June 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded Dist. of Kentucky, stalled Morgan's raid into Kentucky, relieved of command January 1865.

Post War:  He resigned in 1865 and no other information until his death in 1894
