Pre-War Profession: Lawyer, and constructor of telegraph lines.

War Service: September 1861 Lt. Col. of 1st Ohio Cavalry, aide to Gen. Pope after Shiloh, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded Dist. of Wisconsin, inspector general of Dept. of the Missouri.

Post War: Rancher, army paymaster, retired 1883.
