Pre-War Profession: Graduated West Point 1831, garrison duty, resigned 1834, civil engineer, Florida War, Mexican war.

War Service: 1861 paymaster of volunteers, November 1861 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded military districts, commanded 6th Divn in advance on Corinth, commanded the cavalry in Dept of the Gulf in 1864.

Post War: Mayor, farmer, politician
