War Service: December 1861 Col. 6th Kentucky (Union) Infantry, Shiloh, Stone's River, June 1863 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Bde/1st Divn/IV Corps at Chattanooga (w), Atlanta campaign, Franklin and Nashville campaign.

Post War: Criminal trial lawyer
