War Service: August 1861 Capt. and asst Adjutant General, served on
staff of Gen J. Peck, September 1862 Col. of 135th New York - became 6th
New York Heavy Artillery, Washington defences, November 1862 appointed
Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, Gettysburg, Mine Run, Bristoe Station, commanded
1st Bde/3rd Divn/VI Corps at Wilderness, Spotsylvania (w), saw no more
field service.
