Died: April 10 1862, Savannah TN

Pre-War Profession: Lawyer, and Mexican war.

War Service: May 1861 Col. 11th Illinois, commanded 2nd Bde/1st Divn at Forts henry and Donelson, March 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Divn at Shiloh (mw).

Post War: He was wounded and only later found barely alive on the battlefield by his troops. He died three days later in his wife's arms.
